Words are powerful: they have the ability to lift up the lowest of the low or tear down the highest of the high. But a strong argument could be made that our body language is even more influential. The most effective communication occurs when the importance of body language in teaching is acknowledged. When these nonverbal signals are working together with our words, it creates communication synergy.
It has been suggested that two-thirds of our communication is nonverbal. Positive body language in a classroom setting has the ability to motivate, inspire and engage. It can not only give you the confidence you need to teach but can also inform your students that you actually know what you’re talking about. It can even make your students feel safe and confident enough to participate in the lessons more frequently.
Most leadership positions encourage body language that shows power and confidence. Signals include standing tall, gesturing only from the waist up, head straight and forward, and talking while pointing to others, which are obvious ways to exercise control. But when teaching, the nonverbal signals need to show a different type of leader. These signals convey warmth and understanding, reminding your students that you are approachable and there to help them grow. For example, fix your eyes on one student for about 15-30 seconds before changing to another student, which is one of the best ways to keep students’ focus. Nod your head. Give a thumbs up—maybe two! Show them they are on the right path and they will be more confident in continuing down it.
The importance of body language can never be ignored. It’s desirable that you should advocate using body language in teaching and pay attention to the use rule and using skills. You should use right, natural and clear body language. It’s crucial that you create good classroom atmosphere, inspire students’ imagination and grasp students’ mood.;
4. Which has a similar meaning as the underlined word “synergy” in Paragraph 1
A.Energy loss. B.Confusing result.
C.Individual effect. D.Combined power.;
5. What do most leadership positions mainly express
A.Warmth. B.Control.
C.Understanding. D.Encouragement.;
6. What’s the purpose of the last paragraph
A.To explain a theory. B.To make a description.
C.To give suggestions. D.To summarize a debate.;
7. What is the text mainly talking about
A.The importance of teacher’s body language.
B.The effective ways of good communication.
C.The value of teacher-student communication.
D.The prospect of students’ nonverbal learning.

Most of us want to get in shape and be healthy. For many of us nutrition (营养) and watching what we eat is an important way to stay healthy. But when it comes to food, what is calorie counting, and what are the positives and negatives of it
A law in the UK came into force in April 2022 that requires restaurants, takeaways, and cafes to display the calorie information of non-pre-packed food and soft drinks on their menus. It’s a strategy aimed to deal with obesity (肥胖) and give people a more informed choice of what goes down into their stomachs. Being able to count calories and know how much we can eat is a great way to try and stay on track with our diet.
However, there are some disbelievers when it comes to calorie counting. 200 calories of fresh fruit and 200 calories of junk food, for example cookies, have the same caloric value. However, there is a question of the health benefits of what you’re eating, regardless of calories. While fresh fruit like apples contains things like vitamin C, junk food could contain an unhealthy level of sugar and fats. Likewise (同样地), fruit may fill you up and leave you not wanting more food for longer than a biscuit with equal calories - meaning, overall, you eat less.
Simply counting calories, while useful for weight loss, doesn’t take into account your intake of good fats, carbohydrates, and proteins - things that your body needs. So, if you’re trying to stick to a low-carbon diet, just looking at numbers of calories on a menu won’t be that useful. So, always be mindful that what you’re eating is part of a healthy balanced diet.;
8. What’s the aim of the newly-passed law in the UK
A.To ensure food security. B.To direct the food industry.
C.To help reduce obesity. D.To get tough with the businessmen.;
9. What opinion do disbelievers hold
A.Calorie alone doesn’t contribute to health. B.Junk food has more calories than fresh fruit.
C.Less calories mean less food in your stomach. D.Sugar and fats are more harmful than calories.;
10. What’s the text mainly about
A.The best way to keep in shape. B.A research result of obesity in the UK.
C.Nutrition and its health benefit. D.Opinions and comments on calorie counting.;
11. From which section of a magazine is this text most likely taken
A.Entertainment. B.Lifestyle. C.Finance. D.Education.

Conservation scientist Kim Williams-Guillen was trying her best to come up with a way to save endangered sea turtles (海龟) from egg thieves when she had an “aha” moment: If she placed a fake (假) egg containing a GPS tracker in the reptiles’ nests, she might be able to track the thieves.
Williams-Guillen found a pliable plastic material to mimic (仿造) the shell of real eggs. She and colleagues then used a 3D printer to produce the fakes of the same size, weight, and texture and put the smallest GPS tracking devices inside each. The researchers then went to four Costa Rican beaches, where green sea turtle come ashore to make their nests. As mothers laid their eggs under cover of night, the researchers slipped a fake egg into each nest. Once the fakes are covered in sand and mix with the real eggs, it’s very difficult to tell the difference between the two.
Of the 101 fake eggs, 25 were taken by thieves. The farthest moving egg traveled 137 kilometers inland. The fake egg sent its final signal the next day from a residential property, suggesting that the research team had tracked the eggs through “all of the players in the entire chain.”
By understanding that chain, Williams-Guillen says researchers can identify trading hot spots. She emphasizes that the tracker is not a way to catch local thieves, many of them living in poverty, but a tool to better understand their routes, which could help them-and eventually law enforcement-identify larger players in the chain.
In the meantime, Williams-Guillen and her colleagues are working to get their fake eggs to other sea turtle conservation organizations. Ultimately, though, scientists and nonprofits are going to engage communities with local outreach and education programs to save sea turtles. She says, “The real meat and potatoes of conservation isn’t going to come from deploying (布署) eggs.”;
12. What can be learnt from paragraph 2
A.Fake eggs are made and employed. B.Sea turtles have become endangered.
C.Sea turtles lay eggs during the daytime. D.The idea of fake eggs came into being.;
13. Why did researchers track the turtle eggs
A.To confirm whether the fake eggs really work.
B.To provide data for doing research on turtle eggs.
C.To arrest the locals stealing the turtle eggs from the beach.
D.To identify the trading routes and get the big players punished.;
14. What does Williams-Guillen mean by saying “The real meat and potatoes of conservation isn’t going to come from deploying eggs” in the last paragraph
A.Deploying eggs needs advocating further.
B.Turtle conservation mainly relies on joint efforts.
C.She feels disappointed with the local communities.
D.Deploying eggs makes no difference in preserving turtles.;
15. Which of the following can be the best title of the text
A.Saving endangered sea turtles is urgent
B.Endangered turtles can be traced with GPS
C.GPS eggs helps to save endangered sea turtles
D.A conservation scientist is devoted to protecting sea turtles

There’s that old saying: How you do one thing is how you do everything. 16 , it shows in everything that you do, even when playing music.
I recently went to a concert with some other musicians in town (many of whom I was meeting for the first time). 17 , I spent more time in my head thinking about my drumming instead of actually paying attention to what was going on. This time though, I found that I was more attentive and was able to support the other musicians more through my playing.
18 . And I could feel the audience was enjoying the music more too, because the music was no longer about me, it was about all of us connecting through the universal language of music.
Afterwards, the musicians I played with told me they felt like our hearts were connected while playing, and that we were able to achieve a new level of playing together thanks to our collected approach. When playing, we didn’t consider how to show ourselves off. 19 .
I believe that the best musicians in the world have this in common; which is to see past their own values, and to listen to/connect with their audience and fellow musicians. I’ve realized all of this thanks to my practice of being a more compassionate and caring person.
So, I would like to thank everyone on this website for opening your hearts and showing me how to be a more caring person. 20 , but also through my music, and to those who listen.

B.Therefore, as you become more kind and sympathetic
C.Because of this, our music was better than ever before
D.There was just us sharing ourselves with our open hearts

Do you do flexibility training as part of your daily workout Do you do any stretching exercises on a regular basis If you are trying to lose weight, you should. Flexibility exercises are not big calorie burners, but they play an important role in a weight loss program.
The best thing about flexibility training is that you don't have to do it very often to enjoy the benefits. Just a few minutes of stretching each day will help to improve the range of motion in your joints, decrease the risk of injury during exercise and reduce stress.
So what flexibility exercises should you do You can do simple stretches when you get out of bed each morning. This will help to loosen up your joints and start your day with healthy movement. There are also some great stretches that you can do at your desk while you are at work. You can also take a yoga class to lose weight or learn the practice of t'ai chi to improve your health.
Even though you won't burn many calories during a short stretching session, your body functions better when your joints move more comfortably. This can boost your weight loss program in several different ways.
Flexibility exercises help to get your blood pumping, but not in a way that increases your adrenalin(肾上腺素). Stretching and breathing exercises help to improve your mood and lower your stress level. This may be especially helpful for dieters who are trying to curb emotional eating. If you can replace the trip to the refrigerator with 5 minutes of healthy stretching, you're likely to eat less and slim down faster.
Aerobic(有氧的)activity and strength training for weight loss are more effective when you perform each exercise fully. Stretching helps keep your body in top shape so that you burn more calories during your workouts and you spend less time recovering from injuries or soreness.
Flexibility training alone won't burn enough calories to make a big difference in your daily energy balance. But when you pair stretching exercises with a complete workout program, you'll benefit from a healthier body and improve your chances of weight loss.
